If you think GTA traffic is a mess now, just wait until the Pan Am games come to town in two years.
Not only will the millions of people in the GTHA be trying to get around along with hundreds of thousands of visitors, but now Pan Am organizers are considering special highway lanes set aside to shuttle over 6,000 athletes to events.
PC leader Tim Hudak says the Liberals and Pan Am organizers aren't getting one for the win column with this idea, calling it the latest example of the mess surrounding the games.
He says it's because of Liberal incompetence.
Hudak points out these lanes will just aggravate drivers even more by increasing traffic.
While NDP Tourism, Culture and Sport Critic Paul Miller want athletes to get to events on time, he says organizers need to come up with something better than tying up highways even more than they already are.
Miller suggestions finding other options, like using GO buses and trains. He adds changing times of events so athletes wouldn't be travelling during rush hour is another option.
