OPP have identified two boys killed while crossing the street with their mother in downtown Parry Sound.
Ryder Smith, aged 21 months and his seven-year-old brother Kaelen were hit in a crosswalk by a turning Ford F-250 pickup truck. The family is from Nobel, just south of Parry Sound.
It happened Friday morning at Seguin St and James St, a busy intersection in the town's core.
Ryder and Kaelen died in hospital. Their 35-year-old mother. The female driver of the truck wasn't hurt but is being treated for shock.
Word of the loss of life spread quickly through the small community. A memorial of balloons, flowers and teddy bears is now at the crash site.
Police are trying to determine if the truck had an advanced green light and if the intersection's pedestrian countdown clock was working properly.
Charges are expected against the driver of the truck.
