Ontario's police watchdog is looking into a deadly shooting in Oakville.

Details surrounding the situation are very slim.

All we know is that a 22-year old man was shot and killed in what Halton Regional Police call "an interaction" with officers.

Police were called to an address in the area of Upper Middle Road and Oak Springs Crescent at around 10:45pm.

Officers found a man sitting in a vehicle nearby.

Police fired their weapons after the man got out of the vehicle.

It is not clear how many officers were involved or how many shots were fired.

The man was declared dead just after midnight.

The Special Investigations Unit has assigned seven investigators and four forensic investigators to the incident and anyone with information regarding the case is asked to contact the agency.

The SIU is an arm's-length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
