WATCH: Queen's Park reacts to the latest Rob Ford allegations

Province won't step in or call on the OPP

It's up to Toronto Police Chief Bill Blair to call in an outside police force to investigate Rob Ford.

That's from Community Safety Minister Madeleine Meilleur, who was pressed on if the OPP or RCMP should take over the investigation in light of the new allegations surrounding Toronto's mayor.

Critics have said having the local police investigate would hit too close to home and an outside view is needed. City Hall also has a say in the police budget.

However, Meilleur says she has confidence in Toronto Police.

She calls the latest allegations "troubling" and "unfortunate."

Attorney General John Gerretsen says Toronto Police needs to do its job. He says they will lay the necessary charges if appropriate.

Municipal Affairs Minister Linda Jeffrey maintains the province will consider an official request from Toronto City Council for help in the Ford matter. But she notes council has done what they can to reduce his powers.

Ontario citizens should insist on the OPP investigating this corrupt Liberal government. That's the biggest story!
