Driver blows 3x legal blood alcohol limit in Barrie

53-year-old Toronto man facing charges

A man has been handcuffed in Barrie after police say he blew more than three times the legal blood-alcohol limit.

The operator of a gas station near Mapleview Ave E and Bayview Ave called police Friday night, worried about a man gassing up there. He'd driven away by the time police showed up.

But cops were able to track the man down, after several calls about a suspected impaired driver came in from northbound hwy 400. Police caught up with the driver at the Duckworth St. exit.

A 53-year-old Toronto man has been charged with impaired driving, driving with a blood-alcohol level over the legal limit, driving while disqualified and failing to comply with probation.
