Integrity Commissioner Investigating Councillor Giorgio Mammoliti

Copy of letter informing councillor’s attorney of investigation obtained by the Toronto Star.

Giorgio Mammoliti is under the microscope after a complaint was filed with the city’s Integrity Commissioner questioning a fundraising dinner held in the councillor’s honour last May.

A letter obtained by the Toronto Star indicates that the investigation will be looking into whether or not Mammoliti violated the city’s code of conduct for councilors forbidding the acceptance of gifts or money related to the performance of “his or her duties”.

Giorgio Mammoliti tells the Star that the $5,000 dollar a table fundraiser was held in his honour to celebrate his recovery from brain surgery in the spring.

It’s not clear where that money went.

The integrity commissioner has really got to stop accepting bogus complaints- and just let cooler heads reign- along with common sense.

@Karl Burgin According to the news report this morning, people paid 5K per plate and the invitation stated "I am seeking your support for my father so he can continue to fight the good fight at Toronto City Hall and not be held back by the financial burdens these attacks have brought on."

Mamolitti is entitled of course to due process, but I honestly can't think of a complaint that would be more un-bogus than this.

His whole argument that they were not campaign funds is irrelevant. He can't accept gifts PERIOD.

Agar asks G.M. directly this morning where the money went and he refused to answer. kind of explains it all.
he says he had brain surgery to fix his brain. obviously the surgeon missed putting back a few screws
