Mayor Throws Party for Staff, Media

Media attend Ford Staff party at Ford house

With plenty of holiday cheer going around, it was mayor Rob Ford's turn to extend the holly branch.

Wednesday afternoon, after the press asked him about a staff party at the mayor's mother's house, Rob Ford then invited the media as well.

When they arrived, they were told they were more than welcome to join in, but had to leave their cameras and microphones outside.

The mayor led a tour of the house, including the basement where the party had been ongoing. A catered meal, and no less than three cakes to commemorate Rob Ford's wife's birthday.

CP 24 reporter Nneka Elliott spoke with Friendly Fire, and says it was strange to a degree, "considering the clashes the media has had with the mayor...but nonetheless he was very cordial."

City Hall's 44 councillors were all invited as well, but only two showed up; Gary Crawford, and budget chief Frank DiGiorgio.

"City Hall's 44 councillors were all invited as well, but only two showed up; Gary Crawford, and budget chief Frank DiGiorgio." Unquote. So, Doug Ford was a no-show? That would be a good social start. Even better would be if Rob uninvited himself in the same way he was 'uninvited' from appearing in the Toronto Santa Claus Parade. Were there any gang members there? Drug dealers? Convicted criminals like Conrad Black? How about David Price -a real party animal for sure. What other 'C' list has beens showed up for the free food? Enquiring minds (and social slummers....) want to know!

@Daniel J. Christie Really?!?! It's Christmas time. Just stop! The Mayor was doing something nice for staffers and it was really nice that he extended the invitation to media after a really intense year. Why do you have to try and make this good news story something more? Enquiring minds don't want to know, just nosy busybodies like yourself wanting to hear the next Rob Ford story so you can express your opinion. Opinions, which should be kept to yourself. In light of the holiday season, try saying something nice for a change. Thank you.

@Daniel J. Christie Doug was there. It sounds like it was a "nice" party. Not everything has to be a spectacle.

lets just say for argument sake Rob Ford wins the next election. he won't but just play along with me.
He's going to consistently loose votes on council floor 42-2/40-4/39-5
so what's the point in even running?
council has no respect for him, they run the city. he's really kind of just city hall mascot

@AC That's based on the assumption you still have bone-headed Councillors who are reelected- doing David Miller's bidding.
