A 20-year-old Toronto Man is facing charges after police say he tried to lure a young boy through “sexually-based chats” on the internet.
Police say the man even sent the 10-year-old a webcam in the mail in order to further exploit him.
Toronto Police say they were contacted by investigators in Chicago who tracked down a man trying to lure the 10-year-old boy who resides in that area.
On Tuesday the Toronto Police Sex Crimes Unit – Child Exploitation Section executed a search warrant at a home in the Finch Avenue West and Albion Road area.
20-year-old Shawn Eghterafi was arrested and charged with Luring a child (under 16) and Invitation to Sexual Touching.
He is appearing in court on Friday.
Police say they believe there may be more victims considering Eghterafi is accused of meeting boys while on trips to the Association of Friends of Persian Culture conference near Chicago, Illinois.
Shawn Eghterafi has used the aliases "Shawn Eght" and "Jim Wilson" on Facebook, "shawn.eghterafi" on Skype, and has used the following email addresses: email@example.com, firstname.lastname@example.org, email@example.com, and firstname.lastname@example.org.
