Update: Subway Closures Could Wreak Havoc on Roads

Water main break at Lawrence station, along with fire at Kennedy station and mechanical issue at Donlands force shuttle buses onto roads.

A water main break shut down the Lawrence subway station Monday morning forcing trains to bypass the station as water leaked onto the subway platform.

Shuttle buses had to be pulled in to transport passengers between Eglinton and York Mills stations.

As of 7:00a.m. Monday TTC and city works crews were still trying to locate the source of the water main break.

A fire at the Kennedy subway station along the Bloor-Danforth line as well as a mechanical issue at Donlands station forced shuttle buses to run between Broadview and Kennedy stations.

The added traffic due to the number of shuttle buses on the roads was expected to cause major delays along routes like the Danforth and Yonge Street.
