Doug Ford promises 'fireworks' at budget meeting

The councillor says he has a few motions he wants to push through

The city's budget committee meets Friday and Councillor Doug Ford is promising "fireworks"

The vice-chairman of the committee says he plans to push through a bunch of changes to the 2014 budget that aren't going to sit well with some councillors.

Among them is cutting the proposed tax hike from 2.5 percent to 1.75 percent.

He also wants to freeze the 5-cent fare hike at the TTC, and slash the city's land transfer tax by 5 percent.

Deputy Mayor Norm Kelly said Thursday, that he was looking forward to what Councillor Ford would bring to the table.

All I want for Christmas is some more stupidity from the Republic of Toronto's council. No wait, I can hardly wait, more bombastic statements, more acting out like two year olds throwing a temper tantrum and more fake indignation. Same old same old but more fun!

@Mike from the hinterland What is it about the concept of "teamwork" that the Fords don't get? There is no "i" in team, but there is a "u" in suck.

@sally Unfortunately, not of the proposals reported actually save money. It just means the money will have to come from somewhere else.

Maybe bobbleheads? They seem to be popular.
