Emergency crews in Waterloo region are scouring the Nith River area of New Hamburg for a missing boy.

Search teams were also out last night, after parents reported their young son missing from their home.
The boy is believed to be under five years old and reportedly left his home without a jacket and headed toward the river.
Rescue workers began to search after footprints were discovered around a hole in the ice.
A command post is set up in the lot of New Hamburg's Royal Canadian Legion.
Many concerned citizens heard about the situation through word of mouth and joined in the search for the missing child.
