Transformer explosion near Bathurst & St Clair

There are road closures in effect in the area

Toronto Fire and Police have been called out to the area of Bathurst and St Clair where a transformer blew this afternoon.

Residents report hearing an explosion coming from underground on Vaughan Rd.

One driver says a manhole cover blew off and hit his truck. Others reported seeing smoke coming from the manhole.

Part of the area is closed off to traffic as the investigation continues.

Spadina station had lost power. There was no service between Union and St Clair West stations on the Yonge-University line, but full service has been restored.
