Ice Storm Outages Restored But Hundreds of Reconnections Outstanding

Toronto Hydro is reporting that all power outages caused by the ice storm on December 21st have been restored but hundreds are still without power in their homes.

Toronto Hydro is reporting that all power outages caused by the ice storm on December 21st have been restored but hundreds are still without power in their homes.

Hydro officials say they expect an increase in outage-related calls as more and more customers return home from their winter holidays.  Many of the outages involve re-connections to individual homes that require Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) approval.  Toronto Hydro is also receiving calls from customers who only have “partial power” meaning some appliances in the home are working and some are not.

As of 5:00a.m. Thursday a Toronto Hydro representative told Newstalk 1010 that a few hundred reconnections were on the growing list, but a clearer picture wouldn’t be available until the morning shift change between 7-7:30a.m.

Customers who are without power who did not require ESA inspection are being told to call 416-542-8000 to ensure hydro officials are aware of the situation.
