Multiple collisions along QEW near Beamsville

Blizzard-like and whiteout conditions were reported

White-out conditions on Thursday afternoon made driving very tricky along the QEW.

O.P.P. closed portions of the Toronto-bound lanes near Beamsville, Ontario because of multiple collisions.

In a section of the highway near Ontario Street in Beamsville, as many as 20 cars were involved in collisions. That's in addition to many more being reported throughout that area as well as Niagara and Hamilton after 4 p.m.

Many of the collisions were weather-related according to O.P.P. Sgt. Dave Woodford. His advice to drivers is to slow down.

On the radio, they keep reporting that the "eastbound" QEW is closed.

It appears the reality is that it is the Toronto bound, which is "westbound" at that location. The QEW is either a north-south highway or simply use "Toronto-bound" and Niagara-bound" (or Fort Erie-bound if beyond Niagara Falls).
