Deep freeze not due to climate change

Environment Canada explains why we're seeing this sudden cold weather

The extreme cold the GTA is getting over the next couple of days isn't because of climate change - it's because we're in a cold country.

That's from Environment Canada Senior Climatologist Dave Phillips, who underlines global warming isn't something we can see through our window but rather trends in weather.

Phillips says winters are actually getting warmer in Canada but the chill in the air right now is arctic air coming down to the area. He underlines the rise and fall of temperatures are due to different weather systems.

He says this winter had been unusual because of the colder temperatures but he says it doesn't fall in line with the warming trends of climate change.

OK I've had enough of winter. I want it to be nice and warm outside, and go for a bike ride, - and get sweaty and have a popsicle to cool me off.
