Dome for Central Tech Debated at Public Meeting

Mayor, Councillors Vaughan and Layton in attendance

A seasonal dome for one of the city's oldest school's was up for debate at a public information meeting Thursday night

Central Tech is set to get a dome used from November to April every year - built and paid for by the private sector.

Councillor Adam Vaughan was in attendance and is against the idea, suggesting it would ruin the view of the historic school and wrecks the character of the area.

Mayor Ford, who was also there, says he doesn't understand why anyone could be against it.

"I know people would love to have this opportunity in Etobicoke and definitely in North York, so I just wanted to say I support this 100% and I will do whatever it takes to get this field done."

Vaughan is seeking a historic designation for the school.

A staff report on the issue will be coming to council later this year.
