WATCH: NDP suggest car insurance rate reduction numbers skewed
MPP Jagmeet Singh says most reductions won't come into effect for months
5 0

With the Liberal government patting themselves on the back for bringing down auto insurance rates by an average of over four per cent over six months, the NDP says things aren't quite what they seem to be.

MPP Jagmeet Singh says, in most cases, people aren't seeing this rate drop. He says demanding on when your insurance renewal date may be, some drivers will only start to save in the summer.

The Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO) released the numbers yesterday, with the Liberal government claiming it's on track to a promised average eight per cent drop over a year.

This was part of a staggered approach to an NDP budget demand last spring to decrease rates by 15 per cent. The Liberals say that will happen over two years.

On if his party will keep this at the back of mind when supporting this year's minority Liberal budget, Singh says it will be a factor.

So after the NDP made their demands last year, my car insurance went up 17.2% on Sept 1 with a clean record and no incidents. Most likely my company was anticipating a 15% reduction so they fucked me !

Yet m next renewal isn't until Sept 1. I took one up the ass for the NDP

Those fuckers are not getting my vote !

If the NDP gets in they might legislated a 15% reduction. What they'd also do is tax us to death, waste even more billions than the Liberals, kill jobs, etc. Net effect is we'll lose a lot more than the gain.

@Frankie Andrea Howarth or the NDP's intention to reduce Ontario's insurance rate by 15% was good, but they are screwed by the Liberal on the way it was reduced/implemented and that was for them to increased your rate by 15% and more and now slowly reduce the rate by 4% and ONLY when you are conisdered a GOOD driver with no claim or LIVE in an area that is safer or less accidents..

If you are living in Brampton, or Toronto, you are screwed.. NO Reduction....and jagmeet Singh and the NDP failed..
you you are deem a good driver..
