WATCH: Second Ford video surfaces

Appears to show alleged drug dealer Sandro Lisi sitting with the mayor

Hours after a first video showing Rob Ford stammering and swearing in a Jamaican accent, another video has surfaced.

This time, it shows the mayor sitting in a booth at the Steak Queen across from alleged drug dealer Sandro Lisi.

Lisi was picked up on drug trafficking and extortion charges.

And he's back. What is remarkable is that 44% of the people in the admittedly totally meaningless poll, say that they don't care because he's on his own time. But he swore he would not drink again. And his brother swore he would not drink again. Why, oh why, are these 44% so willing to have a lying alcoholic as a mayor?

Ford is not embarrassing for the city -- he's a global joke, but that's all he is. What is embarrassing and what the rest of the world is laughing at, is the fact that the people of Toronto -- especially this 44% -- are so stupid, so weak, so unprincipled that they accept his grotesque behaviour. That's embarrassing!
    1. tanjo posted on 01/21/2014 10:24 PM
@LRB My guess is that someone managed to hack the poll. No way there are 60% of the people that support this behaviour.

... unless part of that 60% "don't mind" because it makes it even less likely that he will get re-elected.
    2. Karl Burgin posted on 01/22/2014 09:00 AM
@tanjo No, its the way the vote is structured.
I'm part of the group that voted in the 60%. But not because I think his behavior is OK. But more because I don't agree with the other 2 choices- so the third was the only other one close to my convictions that I could pick.
The third option should have been "It shouldn't matter"- not "don't mind".

44% still select Rob Ford over any of the other options? Why is this? It's because those 44% are sick and tired of lousy socialist leftist and spend happy governments. It's the 44% - the real working class, that have had it up to their eye balls with elitist, downtown socialists telling them how to vote, who to vote for and "don't worry, this won't hurt."
Figure it out. He's the only one truly trying to protect the average Joe, real working stiff. All others may talk a good game but end up filling their special interest pockets and those of their friends on the backs of the average work stiff!
If the elitists can't see that, then they need to get their heads out of each other's a$$!
The biggest joke is not Rob Ford. It's the supposed informed Toronto media that are trying so hard to influence political outcomes that the average working stiffs have tuned them out.
Real people. Real working stiffs want less government and want to keep more of their hard earned dollars!!!!
    Figure it out.

It now makes sense, after meeting Lisi he wasn't drunk, he was stoned on crack. Video displays all the classic crack smoking symptoms...aggression, muscular spasms, incoherent speech, stomping and yelling...he was filmed a few minutes after smoking up and would have crashed a few minutes later.

He needs to resign, who cares if he gets help.

@donny p. I was going to be insulting, but thought better of it....

All I will say is this- do you think it OK that videos taken like this without the person knowing, for the purposes of shaming? Because everyone seems to be missing the point. You have the obvious distracting spectacle being shown on the right, with no one paying attention to what's going on, on the left.
Don't you see? OK, the mayor lied when he said he would never drink again. Fine. But with that, you are also giving license to the fact that this behavior of recording people so that it could be put online, or on the news, is now OK.
We are being duped here, and either everyone fails to see it, or see where this may lead.

@Karl Burgin Attacking the messenger doesn't detract from the message. Filming and posting is perfectly legal, especially if it's a stoned racist public figure...the only thing missing is Robby in blackface on Halloween.

You really don't get it...he's a pussy eating drug addled, racist and you attack the messenger. Get real, welcome to the 21'sr you have problems with videos of cops beating innocent bystanders and then lying about it too. Your hero is full of shit, deal with it, and get off this thread as you really have no place here as an outsider. Your stupid opinions are meaningless and stupid. Come back when you live in Toronto.

@donny p. Not sure if he was stoned, but definitely not racist.
My family is Jamaican, and I understand it perfectly- it didn't come across as being racist- nor was anything he said in there was racist. The only thing that was painful about the video, was the way he butchered the language- but its nobody's right to scrutinize he for attempting to speak it.
What was more disturbing was every news outlet I heard that tried to say the name "patois", spoke it like it was some french name. Everyone I know I told them to listen to how they say the name, and they all laugh. But I guess with your logic, that should be considered racist too.

And secondly, I deliberately started my posting by saying I wouldn't be insulting to you. But you couldn't even resist the urge to return in kind. What does that tell you? You and Mr. Reality like to label Ford supporters as thugs. But the only ones being thuggish around here is you two.....

@Karl Burgin "All I will say is this- do you think it OK that videos taken like this without the person knowing, for the purposes of shaming?"

Actually, Ford himself was more than okay with this last summer. Of course, that was when the video was of a recreational worker, not Ford himself.

And .. the video is not being reported for the purposes of shaming. It is being reported for the purpose of disproving claims that Ford recently made.

We should ask Ontario Liberals why Ford's support remains strong despite his continued personal failings. After all, they continue to vote Liberal despite 10 years of lying, "stealing" money for votes, ordering the OPP to stand down while someone almost gets beaten to death, and mismanage the province to the point of fiscal ruin.

    Please enlighten us!

Perhaps it's because Ford supporters are sick and tired of civic politicians wasting our money to overpay unions, overpay for subway cars to support local unions, waste hundreds of millions to support their anti-car agenda, etc.

In summary, Ford supporters are sick and tired of civic politicians saying "We don't give a damn that you work hard for your money, we're going to waste it as we please".

    It's a pretty simple message!
  5. Frankie posted on 01/22/2014 09:29 AM
If you want to understand why Ford's support remains strong despite his personal failings just ask Ontario Liberal supporters.

They've supported a party and its leader who continually lied, ordered the OPP to stand down while a citizen was almost beaten to death, "stole" in order to buy votes, created multiple scandals, and mismanaged this province to the point of fiscal disaster.

I'm sure we'd all love to hear their explanations.

Perhaps Ford maintains his support because taxpayers are sick and tired of civic politicians saying "We don't give a damn about you or the fact you work hard for your money, we're going to overpay unions, overpay for subway cars to support unions, waste money in support of our left-wing pet projects, etc."

It's called respect for the taxpayer and, relative to the other candidates, Ford is the only one showing any respect.
    1. r2d2 posted on 01/22/2014 09:58 AM
@Frankie I'm more interested in the rationale of his supporters, the mindset. is it just because it's politics and you have to be on one side or another?
i'm not going to attack you it's meaningless. just more curious!
Is it that you don't like the other side so much that the natural defensive comes up when anything involving Ford.
I don't know if you have kids or not but i think if anyone of us with kids if my kids teacher was doing what Ford does the crack/alcohol/driving drunk/criminal associates. i or anyone and i'm assuming you would be down at the school demanding that teacher resign immediately or i pull my kids out for their safety.
so what is it? just to be anti left on anything is that it. just really more curious and baffled Ford raises taxes he does everything that if it was someone on the left you would be up in arms
    2. Frankie posted on 01/22/2014 10:56 AM
@r2d2 Please read my last sentence if you want your answer as I believe it explains the rationale of his supporters, despite his unacceptable behaviour.

Ford isn't a teacher so your comparison isn't relevant.
    3. r2d2 posted on 01/22/2014 11:29 AM
@Frankie but how can you say that with a straight face if Ford had any respect for the citizens the city or the office of mayor he wouldn't be getting stoned/drunk on city time. keeping the hours he keps. getting city paid staff to run errands for him, buy him booze. hiring his friends to do god knows what for over 100 k. that and more is not respecting the taxpayer. far from it.
damn right the comparison is correct. teacher or anyone
what will it take for someone with your ideology to say you know what enough is enough? what will it take? just curious. if he kills someones child drunk driving is not respecting himself his family or the people. is that what it will take.
      someone gets hurt or dies?
i want to blast you now but forget it.
I think it's mostly just anti left rhetoric on your part
    4. Karl Burgin posted on 01/22/2014 11:51 AM
@r2d2 I get FRANKIE's point, and would even venture to go one step further.
Those vehemently opposed to Ford, only have an image of him smoking crack/pot, doing drugs, and drinking booze. Don't forget how we got here... This was all due to the finite focus of camera (both media and amateur) being on Ford. Even the first police project was initiated because of this. This is why we are here now.
With that said, you think that every other politician is squeaky clean, and have no demons. Everyone has them. But no one wants to shed light on others- only Ford. This, in hand creates a double-standard, and a level of hypocrisy. Sure its easy to jump on the bandwagon, and hate the man. But what about the others who are probably doing the exact same thing, or worse? We will never know, because the same magnitude of focus isn't being shed on them. When Anna Bylou? (you can correct me on last name) was charged with drinking and driving by police, did we have a million cameras penetrate her private life to see what else she had to hide- no we didn't. Nor did this happen for the other councillor (whose name escapes me). Why don't we penetrate the private life of the police chief to see what's going on there? Or a few of the other GTA mayors?

The point is R@D@, its quite easy for the City Councillors to point the fingers at Rob Ford, and say he's a disgrace. If a million cameras were to be shed on their private lives, and they were found to not be as dysfunctional- then I would probably side with them. But then again, how much you want to bet that's highly unlikely? That they are all pure as the driven snow...

@Karl Burgin maybe the other councillors are eating live puppies and paying for sex with elephants or smuggling in 100 kilos of cocaine from Columbia. maybe i'm doing that, maybe your doing that.
but until we find that out let's leave them out.
I can be totally anti right wing easily also
but you drink and drive stone effing drunk again and again and again and possibly kill someone.
i hope someone takes matters in their own hands on the street and when the cops aren't around pull Ford into the bushes and lay a whoppin on him like he's never been whopped

    8. Karl Burgin posted on 01/22/2014 12:29 PM
@r2d2 Again, we will never know because there is no focus. And it is impossible to disregard the apparent double-standard without involving the other councillors/high ranking political officials in Toronto.
The more obvious double-standard is of those in Liberal government, and what that has actually cost us versus the actions of Rob Ford. But because that argument is so vehemently opposed (as its not on the same level), I will comply- but also offer up other examples on the same level.

Think about it R2D2- corruption in government- it doesn't come out of thin air. There is something underlying which is the cause of it, in order for it come to public light. Whether it be Mcguinty, Wynne, Miller, etc... The difference with Ford is that besides the personality hell that's being displayed for all to see, it has not translated to his performance in office- that has displayed any evidence in lack of/bad judgement due to the effects of drugs or alcohol.

Councillors like Michael Thompson said they saw signs of the mayor abusing alcohol due to his "hue" recently. If that was the case, then shouldn't it have affect his abilities during the ice storm? It didn't. Actually on the contrary, he out-performed the deputy mayor and the Premiere.

And the other double-standard is that you call Ford a liar, but believe him when he self-incriminates. As per recent example, he said he did drink on Monday night of his own admission. You believe that to be true. But he said he drank a little bit- no credence is given to that. He said he didn't drive- little credence is given to that as well. He says he's not an alcoholic- that's of his own admission, but heck, he must be lying there?
So which is it? Why are we so quick to believe one fact but not the others.

And the more troubling aspect of it all is, no one is even tackling these questions- or even aware of this side of the argument. And yet those who present this side (like myself) are deemed to be enablers, idiots and meddlers (i.e. Donny P., Reality Bites, Justsaying). And make it worse, I don't live in Toronto, so on top of that my opinions don't seem to matter- despite the fact I can 100 reasons-to-Sunday as to why they do (as well as others who have opinions of Toronto, but don't live in it).

Look at the bigger picture R2D2, and look at the rules being compromised, and the precedents being set- all for the sake of bringing down one man- by any means necessary.

really i don't know how old you are but please grow up. you must not have kids so what are you responsible for?
Ford couldn't carry Millers jock strap.
Miller saved a lot more money and was much more fiscal than Ford ever was and left over a 300 mil surplus when he decided not to run again after 2 terms.
what's going to happen is Ford just effed the losers on the right because of the scumbag. the scumbag all by himself is managed to eff this city up along with his messed up family of enablers.
thanks to Ford someone on the left of center will be mayor for the next 20 years and i'm happy with that

Ford performed feats Miller couldn't. Read an actual newspaper, instead of the left-wing pamphlets- you should find that they are more informative. Or even Wikipedia for that matter.

At first you kinda had a logic going, but now you've descended into spewing horse manure. Careful not to eat too much.

Karl: Sorry that I direct these statements at you as they are intended for anyone who thinks this Mayor is good for our city and has done nothing to warrant his removal from office,
The fact is: this mayor is a drunk, and a liar. Why do you find that acceptable?. He is your beacon, whereas others see him as a RED LIGHT = Stop this train, I want off.

If movie stars are held accountable for their bad behaviors caught on camera, then why not the person who holds the Highest position (literally and figuratively) in the city?

Did you know that during the last election Ford Nation showed up at Smitherman's campaign stops and called him a drug addict because he admitted to using party drugs in the 80's. He was called out and shouted down by Ford Nation - yet Ford Nation tolerates, no defends Mayor Ford who admits to seeking, buying, using and denying using CRACK while in office and hanging out with the people who are the deadliest drug dealers in the city. Something stinks. I think something is way past prime here...and it is way beyond your idea of justice, fair play and common sense.

When I saw him handing out the bobble heads, I knew why he resonates so well. Trouble is, he's an addict and is unfit to run the city.

But I also do not condone the under-handed "gotcha" moments, that we're now forced to confront.
I do condone someone who has publicly apologized numerously, and is making an effort to make amends for himself.

2.>What's the point of apologizing when all you do is drudge up what he apologized for. Is there any evidence he's done crack recently? Is there any youtube video that shows he did crack recently? So why do we keep reverting back to that?

3.>You still fail to acknowledge the double-standard that I keep bringing up. The Liberals were in for 10 years, they butchered everything every which way, but is it because Ford came on the scene, that you've become morally sensitive?
Ok, let's leave the provincial stuff out of the argument- and focus on Miller's performance. He has initiated TTC screw-ups that have cost millions- yet he was rewarded with two terms?
You had two councillors (under Ford's administration) CHARGED with drunk driving- are we vying for their heads to be on a platter too? We've all seem to have forgotten about them...

As long as these double-standard exists, and no one wants to address it, for better or for worse (depending on which side of the fence you stand), there will always be a Ford nation.
And until you realize that fact, you will banging your head against the wall until it bleeds, trying to figure out why his approval is so high.

It is going to happen. It will be an amazing moment.

Then, tolls can be set up around this city, just like London and New York - so those who contribute nothing to the city can pay for the damage they inflict on our roads...daily. Those with a 416 license plate will be exempt. After all, it is our city, and you are welcome to pay to play in it. Otherwise, please stay in Mississauga. We don't need you here. You see it is OUR city, not your's. If you do not like it...tough....we don't care. I doubt one business in TO will fold because 905'ers are too cheap to pay a loonie for their vehicle to enter the city> They'll they should have all along>>>> No more free ride for 905. Delivery trucks delivering goods to/for the GTA would have an exemption. Trucks using GTA roads to bypass the 401 will pay a toll. Simple.

You see, there's a critical point in public life. A point at which you tip the scales in your favour, when you stop being "just a politician", or "just a whatever..." and become a celebrity. Look at Bill Clinton. Reprehensible behaviour to exhibit in the Oval Office. Yet, he gets a pass, because he achieved celebrity status. The main thing propelling Ford into celebrity status is the late night talk show hosts. With that sort of exposure, every American knows him and can comment on him. If he were to resign, pack up and move to Beverly Hills right now, he would have no problems finding work. He's like John Candy and Chris Farley rolled into one. Genius.

So... That's the other consideration you folks need to keep in mind during the next election, assuming Ford does last long enough to run. You're going to have to contend with the celebrity factor. Toronto is full of very boring people, so it's actually quite possible there'll be a socialist at the helm this fall. You never know. Like I said earlier, it's a crap shoot.

But putting another socialist at the helm in Toronto would have the same effect on Toronto's economy as putting sugar in your gas tank. Your car would sputter and die.
