WATCH: NDP still say Wynne should meet with Ford

MPP DiNovo says council is working despite focus on Ford's personal life

The same week as an explosive new Rob Ford video, the province's NDP continue to stand behind the Toronto mayor's demand to meet with the premier.

Parkdale-High Park MPP Cheri DiNovo says it's a common courtesy for Kathleen Wynne to meet with elected municipal officials, even if they're conservative.
DiNovo points out Wynne meets with federal conservatives.

She underlines even if you have a sit-down with someone, it doesn't mean you support them.

DiNovo says it looks as though city hall is handling Ford's problems well.

When asked her advice as a minister, she says addiction is an illness and her thoughts and prayers would be with anyone battling it. She underlines someone in that situation would need to get help.

The latest video shows Ford at the Steak Queen fast-food restaurant in Rexdale speaking in a Jamaican accent and swearing. He later admitted he was drinking at the time.

While she is right here, her mentioning it is more for the purpose of politicking, than anything else.
But still, good job for being another political figure for pointing that out.

Wynne isn't going to meet with Ford. She's crazy. Ford's responsibilities now are cutting the ribbon at park openings. that's about it.

What NDP non-sense! Meet with whom - the guy on crack, the guy who is drunk, the guy who supports his thug friends, who? While we all know that addiction is an illness it is not a licence. Regards of what anyone says, you never know who you are talking to! This mayor is unrepentant, has not admitted to his addiction and has NEVER accounted for his behavior except those empty, meaningless apologies. He is a disgrace and not competent to manage and lead this city. Shame on DiNovo, this is not a therapy session, this is about our city

the only reasion why she will not meet with ford is because he will not bend to her will like kelly can . kelly to me is a David miller wannabee . one of the biggest scrum bag in all of Toronto .

@john In most circumstances, I wouldn't necessarily have a problem with Kelly. But instead, what we have here is a very rare occurence concenring the current state of governance in the province of Ontario.

*We have a deputy sharing mayoralty powers- which is a demonstration of an undemocratic process with seemingly good intentions- at best.
*An un-elected Premiere who's party has nigh-destroyed Ontario's finances with repeated "mistakes" that they don't seem on fixing anytime soon

Unfortunately, we need someone of a strong backbone- and Norm Kelly isn't the one sporting it.

@Karl Burgin finding a politician with a back bone is like finding a lesbian in a gay bar . thats why i like rob ford . he has a back bone . no affiance the gays by the way .

@john the lesbian in gay bar analogy. Unexpected, yet very picturesque...
