Kathleen Wynne wants to you know that pork from Ontario is safe to eat.

The premier made the assurances after news of an outbreak of a deadly virus amongst pigs, at a farm in Middlesex.

The porcine epidemic diarrhea virus killed millions of pigs in the United States.

Wynne says there are no reports of the virus anywhere else but says there is no quarantine in place at the affected farm. She underlines "every precaution is being taken" to make sure it doesn't spread. Wynne says the virus is "highly infectious."

The province is now working with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Canadian pork producers.

She'd definitely know as the Liberals are the masters of pork barrel politics (refers to politicians spending money in a riding in order to gain votes) for those unfamiliar with the term.

"Wynne says, "the virus is highly contagious" ....and then she also says, "there is no quarantine in place at the affected farm." I guess that is "Lieberals-speak" for every precaution is being taken!

A Liberal telling you that pork is safe to eat is all the evidence you need to know that the pork has gone bad and avoid it like the plague for a few weeks.

@Jack Yeah, just like when the Mulroney government said that the tainted tuna was safe to eat back in 85. the difference is that health officials have stated that the virus does not affect humans.

"Pork products are safe to eat"?!

That is news to me since pork is an unclean food. Pass the defibrillator for the heart attacks and heart disease if you don't get tape worms first.
