Durham police search waters in Whitby but find no sign of missing teacher

Search teams spent several hours Monday searching the Whitby harbour for missing high school teacher Jeffrey Boucher, but found nothing.

There are still no further leads in the case but Durham Regional police say the investigation is active.

Investigators searched the water using an underwater camera which they said was a routine operation to explore all options, not based on any new tips or information.

The 52 year old high school teacher disappeared on Monday, January 13. He went out for a morning run, and never returned.

On January 20, Det. Sgt. Mitch Martin, the lead investigator in the case, said Durham regional police had had very few leads to go on and that it appeared as if Jeffrey Boucher ``has simply vanished.''

"Mr. Boucher quite simply, appears to have vanished"
