An 18-year-old woman is dead after being hit by an unmarked York Regional Police truck on St. Clair Ave E and Warden Ave.

Toronto EMS tell NewsTalk 1010 the call came in at about 8:20 pm Wednesday. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Toronto Police say Ontario's Special Investigations Unit has been notified about the crash and has invoked their mandate. The SIU investigates whenever a member of the public is seriously hurt or killed during an interaction with police.

It's the second pedestrian fatality in Toronto in less than 24 hours. At around 1:30 am Wednesday, a man was hit and killed by a taxi on Danforth Rd, near Birchmount Rd.

@JohnVoter I strongly agree John! This poor girl potentially got killed by police due to their reckless driving. If this was the other way around it would have been a huge hype in the media! I'm really sad and dissapointed to see the media help police cover this up.
