A 54-year-old Toronto man is dead after being hit by a truck at his workplace.

Durham Police say it happened at Atlas Logistics in Ajax early Saturday morning, around 3:30. The man was walking through the loading dock on Bayly Street East when he was hit by a shunt truck.

He was taken to Rouge Valley Ajax-Pickering Hospital by ambulance, but succumbed to his injuries. Police say he was a truck driver at the facility.

The Ministry of Labour was contacted and went to the scene.

The driver of the truck, a 46-year-old Oshawa man, was not injured.
