Stormy weather blamed for power outages

10,000 customers affected province wide

It's not what hydro crews are calling a major situation, but there are about 10,000 customers without power in areas surrounding the GTA.

In York Region, Powerstream is reporting that 1600 customers in the Hwy 27/Zenway area are in the dark, while in Newmarket, about 1500 customers are without power.

In Orangeville, Hydro One is reporting 3500 customers have no electricity with no estimates on when it could be back on.

The reason for the outages, according to Hydro One is the wet snow from earlier Thursday causing trees to fall onto hydro lines.
