Bill Blair ''disgusted'' by Rob Ford's Steak Queen rant

Police Chief ''deeply offended'' by lewd insult lobbed at him

Toronto Police Chief Bill Blair says he is ``deeply offended'' by remarks Mayor Rob Ford made about him in a videotaped profane rant.

Ford has admitted he had been drinking when he launched into a rant in Jamaican patois that was surreptitiously filmed at a Toronto restaurant.

The video in which Ford swears and references Blair and counter surveillance surfaced online weeks after Ford said he had given up alcohol.

Blair tells television station CP24 that it was ``disgusting'' to hear the mayor at the beginning of the rant call him a ``pretty filthy obscenity.''

The mayor has been under police investigation since the Toronto Star and the U.S. website Gawker reported on a video appearing to show Ford smoking crack cocaine.

Ford's friend Alexander Lisi was charged in that investigation with drug offences _ he was later also charged with extortion in relation to the so-called crack video _ and police have alleged Lisi would use counter-surveillance techniques on them.

After the restaurant video was posted to YouTube, Blair said he did not respond to personal attacks.

"But don't confuse that with I was OK with it,'' he told CP24. ``It was disgusting. It really was. It was disgusting. My kids saw that. My daughter heard that. People who I have worked for and protected for 37 years all heard that. I'm frankl, I think it's shameful to have my name even associated to such behaviour.''

    Poor Chief Blair is upset.

Well Chief, lots of people are upset that for some strange reason and under your watch - strip searches have increased dramatically.

Well Chief, lots of people are also wondering why you have not slammed officers for being much rougher than they need to be when arresting people.

In fact Chief. Recently at a gathering I was at in a posh area of North York - your cops and you were being talked about and frankly Chief, good thing were not being said.

So, Chief. Don't forget, YOU WORK FOR US. Suck it up big boy. Not many of us pay attention to Ford any more so why should you.

The police chief should clean up his own shoot first police force. The mayor should move to Alabama.

actually Chief Blair, EVEN the Mayor has admitted his wrong-doings but YOU still have to answer for G20, strip searches, carding etc etc etc. I would be be getting your own house in order first sir!

@William Paul Bill Blair should be in jail for his actions during the G20. Countless investigations blamed him for turning Toronto into a police state, suspending our constitutional rights, torturing innocent people held in a makeshift jail, the beating hundreds by cops without name tags, corralling innocent pedestrians in a cold rainstorm at Queen and Spadina, even beating kids wearing bandanas or carrying backpacks miles from the site. I saw a 10 year old girl being frisked by cops in riot gear on Bloor, west of Dufferin...the pigs were laughing, loving every minute, getting their gloved hands up her shirt.

Blair has a lot to answer for, especially his arrogant attitude and contempt for all citizens, not just Toronto residents. He is the worst kind of cop, hating those he is supposed to serve hile defending even the worst cops. He should start talking to the would be a good place to start.

@HP what are you Rob Fords crack dealer? A member of the Somali drugs and guns gang?
like to see how fast you dial 911 when you need help from the police

@JC JC, you must be as stupid as Ford and Blair combined.

Reviews the facts. Bill Blair refuses to cut his budget after being ordered to do so by City Council. In any job I've ever had telling the boss "I'm not going to do what you tell me to do and I don't care what you think about it." would get you fired on the spot. Since then Blair has been looking for any way he can to settle the score with Ford. And Ford has definitely given Blair and The Toronto Star plenty of ammunition to do so.

Even if you set aside the issues with police conduct under his watch his behaviour towards Ford has been inappropriate. His comments when the crack video came out are not acceptable for someone in his position. As people point of the Ford is Mayor 24/7, the same is true of Blair, he is the Chief of Police 24/7 and anything he says, in particular when in uniform can not reflect his personal opinion or personal antipathy towards Ford.

Ford is certainly no angel and deserves to be punished for his actions, so to does Blair. Both have behaved in a manor that has brought disgrace to the office they hold.

Hello Bill Blair the tyrant has to go right now!
He has crossed the line and I hate to agree with all those lefty free papers in the city such as Now but they were right Blair is a bully, tyrannical and tacky to boot.
Really using the phrase what about the children who is he fooling. Was he thinking about the children when all those innocent people were being beaten up and rounded up and treated like dirt during g20. Was he thinking about the children as those lefty papers have stated; in Toronto the police shoot first and then ask questions.
He is not paid to give commentary especially political commentary that is highly inappropriate and when he did it the first time he should have apologized to the mayor. Then the second time today on cp24 he stated I have no comment then goes on a rant what a typical narcissist bullying tyrant . OH please he has heard worse in the locker room.
Secondly the big difference Ford comments occurred in a private conversation just imagine if someone had a hidden mic on Blair I bet he would make Mayor Ford come across as a school boy.
Plus right on the cue whenever Ford's is getting great press, he had a successful day at Ottawa and he was getting lots of love from the people. Powers to be, called Blair telling him to make his comments right now, after Blair stated he would not be commenting they are so transparent. Even if you hate Ford this is scary when a bureaucrat is trying to influence who his boss is. We must remember the public is the boss of the police. Good for Doug Ford I am gay and urbanite and will vote for Ford to stop the powers to be from controlling my city . Love Ford. Anyone whom can not see this, is living in a fools paradise and their hatred for Ford is blinding them to the Truth; Blair is a dangerous Tyrant.

@gay for ford Blair maybe all that you say he is - but that is no reason to give the keys of the city to a middle age teenager! - who in their right mind @ middle age decide it is a good idea to experiment with crack cocaine -

he says he is not a addict so he must be testing to see if he can use it lower taxes for FordNation
    2. Jim posted on 02/28/2014 07:52 AM
@Brian Brian, you are a dumbass. So what you are saying is it's okay for young people to experiment with crack, but not middle aged men? WTF? Crack is a bad idea, period. Besides the real issues isn't does Ford deserve to be punished, yes he does, but so to does Bill Blair. His actions are every bit as disgraceful as Rob Ford's.
    3. Brian posted on 02/28/2014 09:03 AM
@Jim nice intimidation technique but let keep the conversation insult free -
the simple point is if someone is now middle age and does not by now realize that doing crack cocaine is dumb that person does not have the sense to run the biggest city in Toronto.

nothing would be sweeter and make me happier than the chief goes to his lead investigator into the Ford investigation and says dude do whatever you have to do but lets nail i mean really nail this fat ****sucker.
    1. HP posted on 02/28/2014 08:43 AM
@AC Charging Ford isn't up to Bair to decide...his investigators will prepare the Crown Brief, but it's really up to the Crown to lay charges. The Crown Prosecutor needs a reasonable chance of conviction before proceeding or runs the risk of frivolous prosecution.

They should have moved forward when they knew Ford was doing dope, driving drunk, beating his wife, ordering hits on those that had the video, and arranging to have his brother in law assaulted in jail. Probably too late now.

Mayor Ford and Chief Blair are locked in a game of 'I-know-you-are-but-what-am-I'. So sick of the dysfunction. Toronto City Council needs an enema.
