Investigators searched a data storage facility last week, and now the OPP commissioner testified at the committee looking into the gas plant cancellations that hard-drives were likely taken.
Chris Lewis says he is making the assumption given IT staff have been involved in that part of the investigation.
Officers are looking into the deletion of emails and what opposition parties allege is a cover-up in who called the shots during the cancellation process.
Lewis couldn't say what charges could have been included in the warrant that led to this search. He underlines he can't say much so he won't compromise the investigation.
He underlines he doesn't know many details.
However, Lewis reveals 20 officials were interviewed in this investigation - but he couldn't name who.
He says he doesn't know when the investigation could wrap up since the OPP are also dealing with other cases, pointing to a potential two-year backlog outside of this matter.
Lewis wouldn't speculate if charges will be laid.
