Durham cops warn of phone scam

Suspects claim to be from organizations like CRA or police and ask for cash

Durham Regional Police are warning the public about a telephone scam.

According to police, residents have been getting phone calls from people claiming to be from various organizations like the Canada Revenue Agency, asking for back taxes or from Durham Police asking for money for an anti-bullying campaign.

Police say it's a scam and warn people to make sure the call is legitimate before parting with their cash.
