Premier Wynne hosts 'The Province' on Newstalk1010

Wynne will share the hosting duties with Hudak and Howarth on a rotating basis...

Newstalk1010 is keeping up the trend of landing high profile talk show hosts.

At one point, Mayor Rob Ford hostes a show called 'The City', and now Premier Kathleen Wynne will be the inagural host of 'The Province'.

She'll actually share the hosting duties on a rotating basis with the other two major party leaders, Tim Hudak from the Progressive Conservatives, and Andrea Horwath who heads up the Provincial NDP.

The first hour-long show airs this Sunday at 1 o'clock.

In a release, Wynne says "I'm excited to host the first show of THE PROVINCE on NEWSTALK 1010. I'm looking forward to speaking directly with people and discussing the things that matter most to all of us across Ontario - jobs, transit and infrastructure, and retirement security. I hope listeners can tune-in this Sunday."

"Ontario's Party Leaders want the opportunity to speak about the issues that matter most to voters," said Mike Bendixen, Program/Brand Director, Bell Media Radio. "NEWSTALK 1010, and our sister stations across the province, serve as a perfect conduit for both the Leaders and the voting public to express their political opinions."

"THE PROVINCE" will be simulcast on 610 CKTB in Niagara, AM 800 in Windsor, and 580 CFRA in Ottawa.

You guys are just over a month ahead of yourselves here. Its Feb 27th today, not April 1st!

@1231231 newstalk1010.com is one of the worst run major news websites. Look under "Top Stories" and they still have a "Toronto Hydro CEO response to the ice storm" topic. Another time they had a news story "Ford walks to car" story during the ford fiasco when 1010.com went insane talking about Ford and ignoring real news.

While fun to post on here once in a while 1010.com is a joke.

As for Wynne Bag, no doubt she will not answer questions directly. Ontario needs to slash and burn these corrupt liberals. IMO the only people who vote liberal are either idiots or like our bully teachers, sucking at the trough. Weird how Ontario's teachers are the second highest paid on the planet. I wonder how that happened.

"Premier Kathleen Wynne will be the inaugural host of 'The Province'."
Shouldn't that be edited to be called "The Province I Broke"?

I think it's a good move.. Can't really accuse 1010 of being pro-Ford, as was the case when the Ford brothers had their show.. Now, they're showcasing all 3 party leaders. I still think it's just a political platform for the party leaders involved. But if it follows the format of a radio show, there will be callers with opinions. That should make it a little more interesting.

I don't think Wynne is in touch with main stream Ontario. She can't really see the forest through the 416 trees, I don't think. The Hudak and Horwath shows will be interesting, as well. I think all three leaders will hear things from callers that they would really rather not hear.

@Angry Bill Don't kid yourself, those callers will ALL be party hacks. Do you really believe Wynne will take questions from callers on "stealing " $ 1 billion, eHealth, Ornge, Caledonia, green energy, etc.? And Horvath being a partner in crime?

The Greens don't currently hold a seat, but they have some interesting ideas that should be shared. For a forum such as this, that wants to promote discussion and the sharing of new ideas, it only would make sense to include them. Excluding them helps keep people uninformed, and entrenched into the status quo. If the later is what you wish to accomplish, then job well done!
    1. orngecrush posted on 02/27/2014 03:50 PM
@David W You have got to be kidding! The 'greens' will never have a seat in Ontario, so deserver no air time. Get a few seats, become credible, then we can talk. Now, if one of the three goofs wants to have the party shill on as a guest, fine. But not an entire hour. Too many listeners would kill themselves.
    2. Walter posted on 03/02/2014 12:40 PM
@David W It would also be nice if the Greens could be kicked out of Federal debates. I am not sure what the criteria should be, but total support of 5%, with less than 1% of the seats definitely makes it sound like a Party that should not be included.

I wonder which one of them will prove to be the most creative in avoiding answering the callers' questions. Of course, they may all have their "Daves from Ajax" lined up to call in like the Fords did.

Corporate contributions are limited to $750.00 and Radio and TV programming counts as a contribution UNLESS it is provided in accordance with the Ontario Elections Act and CRTC regulations, which require time to be given to all candidates. Perhaps the Green Party or another smaller party should ask for prosecutions, that way they might get on tv and radio, especially if the prosecution is successful and the Liberals NDP and PC are barred from running for four years. Democracy EH?, not in Ontario or Canada.
    1. Frankie posted on 02/27/2014 04:12 PM
@Captain Abvious Canada Unions should fall under the same electoral rules as corporations. Can't wait for that to happen

The first host is the leader of an immoral, crooked and totally incompetent party that is driving this province to ruin. The 2nd host is the getaway driver that is enabling the first host to destroy this province.

I have to wait for the 3rd week to listen to a party leader that has caused the least damage to this province. Why would I waste my weekend listening to these liars?

Sounds great! I love "true crime" shows. Every week, we'll hear directly from the cabal of Liberal crooks and thugs that are bleeding the province dry with their hijinks. Special guest star: "Sid Ryan".

Now that the province has scrapped the Feed-in Tariff program for proposals over 500 kw. A top priority for the 2014 budget should be the investment of $5 Million to give communities the tools to actively participate in Ontario's new competitive process of Large Renewable Procurement.

The provinces energy plan indicates we will procure approximately $5 Billion worth of renewable contracts in 2014. This is a significant investment. Community Energy can enable Ontario to get the best return on this investment. However, there are hurdles. We need a better process. A strategic investment in mobilizing Communities is needed now to create jobs and attract investment in communities.

Premier, will Ontario make a strategic investment in community energy? Premier, would you like to know more?

@Trillium Energy In Jan 2013, I spoke with Kathleen Wynne on Newtalk 1010 with John Tory. Here is the transcript of what Ms Wynne and Mr. John said to me:
      • Ms Wynne said: “So Jeff here's what I've been saying in my in my campaign: We really need to have more community buy-in. And you are absolutely right I agree with you there.”
      • “We need to make sure that communities see the benefit of having these large energy infrastructures in their communities.”
      • “We need a better process to create that. And whether it's co-ops or whether it's a better consultation. So I'm willing to look at how we can get that community buy-in… so that we've got willing hosts for this green energy.”
      • “And also, so that we can have communities participating in the production of renewable.”
      • “So I think you're onto something there.”
      • Mr. Tory States: “Alright, well that certainly has been a subject of great controversy. Probably cost you some seats in the last elections because people are mad about the whole wind power thing in particular.
      • Ms Wynne replies: “I think part of the reason John is that we didn't have that good community process you know and we need more of that.
      • Ms Wynne goes on to indicate that she is committed to this.
Well, here we are a year later and still communities do not have the necessary tools. And, other than our model, there is no “better process” on the horizon.

I wanted to ask Ms. Wynne why they are closing our hospitals in South Niagara and building a Super Hospital in Niagara Falls, 15 minutes away from their other brand new Super Hospital. That leaves 92,000 people in the southern tier without a proper hospital. Vote buying or just poor planning???
    1. Frankie posted on 03/02/2014 01:38 PM
@Donna MacCullouch Probably both vite buying and incompetence. Surely you couldn't expect an honest answer from one of the most dishonest and incompetent governments in Ontario history.

Unless I want to hear lie upon lie upon lie I wouldn't waste my time (and radio electricity) listening to the BS from her mouth and from Horvath next week.

Kathleen Wynne did indeed try to control the dialogue, but I was able to get in a few very poignant questions about the health of my son. She refused to answer the questions, and just spewed some propaganda nonsense! It made it quite obvious that she does NOT care about children, unless they are hers.

@shellie correia I heard you and it was and embarrassment quite frankly that the dishonourable Premier pretty much blew you off like that. She took 8 or 9 calls tops. All but one or two calls were from party hacks/shills. Typical McWynnty bring on the election and get her out of here. I had an issue and have had no response from them for about a year. I'm done with talking and dialogue with these clowns. Also no mention of the cash grab and license and plate renewals while blabbing about infrastructure and we are broke and we have to pay for it. Thanks for nothing MOT Mr. Glen Murray.

I hope that all you people posting here aren't the same people posting on other pages bashing Mayor Ford. Because, if you are, then you would be the most hypocritical people living in the province of Ontario. Kathleen(I won't even bother referring to her as Premier Wynne) we all know is they unelected premier of Ontario and leader of the Liberals. The Liberal policys of tax and spend(screw the tax payer) are exactly what Mayor Rob Ford is fighting against. The media, along with Kathleen Wynne and some left leaning councillors are doing anything in their powers to persuade Torontonion's that Mayor Ford is this terrible guy. He's not. Is he overzealous at times? Yes, absolutely. But, is he actually looking out for our better interest? You can bet your bottom dollar he is. The relentless pursuit of the Toronto Paparazzi in this city is uncanny. The length of media scrutiny that has be felled our mayor is both ridiculous and disgusting. We as citizens of Toronto should be able to open up our internal lenses and let the true light of this very relevant situation shine in. Mayor Rob Ford truly is the Mayor of the people and we must aid him in the fight against The social Liberals and NDP candidates who are trying to force themselves into municipal office. Kathleen Wynne refuses to associate with Mayor Rob Ford not because of past "scandals", but instead because she is afraid of his conservative agenda. Don't make the mistake of getting mesmerized by the drama behind the true story of the Liberal governments(also the NDP's) that are trying to cover up their own scandals and redirecting the controversies onto the shoulders of our Mayor. This is my opinion and I an positive that many of you may not agree with it, so I leave you with this question: If none of the above text made any sense at all to you, then please look beyond all the media propaganda and try to make the right decision come October 27, 2014 and vote Rob Ford for mayor of Toronto because he truly is 100% the opposite of everything we are fighting against on this page.
