WATCH: Ford makes brief appearance on Kimmel's Oscar special

Mayor Rob Ford will make a full appearance on Monday night

Mayor Rob Ford has made a brief appearance on late night TV this morning.

He came out during Jimmy Kimmel's post-Oscar special and gave a wave.

The host poked fun at Ford's poor timing.

"You're on the show tomorrow night," Kimmel joked.

"Oh okay," Ford responded before going back backstage.

Kimmel then brought out his guest for the night Kevin Spacey and thanked him for sharing a dressing room with the mayor.

"Well, he threw up all over it," Spacey joked.

Ford is to make a full appearance on Kimmel's show on Monday night.

Americans have a special place in their hearts for the mentally impaired and tragic figures, but I'm not sure why that is. Perhaps looking at people like Lindsay Lohan, Beiber, those drug addicted celebrities that publically die, human wrecks like Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson...they can't get enough of them. Maybe it's a race to the bottom, tabloid journalism, the quest for the lowest common denominator in TV entertainment...maybe Americans need to feel superior by making others look stupid.

One thing for sure, Rob Ford will be portrayed as a laughingstock in the American media, started this morning on CNN

@HP But that's okay.. because he's a *celebrity*. Once you've achieved that status, the same rules no longer apply to you.

@Angry Bill what has he done positive to be a celebrity as you say in the states?

@AC Where did I say he did anything positive? Or even imply that doing something positive was a prerequisite to being a celebrity?

Sorry to see Kevin Spacey make a fool of himself. He doesn't even know Mayor Ford, and he tries to make a joke about him based on the media take of him.
Spacey's character seems to hit a low point here.

Tonight Kimmel will have some crafty plan to steer the interview portrayal of Mayor Ford the way he wants, but I doubt Mayor Ford will take the bait. Mayor Ford is way to crafty himself, and viewers will probably feel betrayed by their media when they see the real Mayor Ford.

I also notice that Mayor Ford is looking slimmer.

    Good going Mayor Ford.

@Peter what is in the beer they give you guys in FordNation - can't you see that the only reason Kimmel bring Ford on the show is to make fun of him!!

@brian Making fun of Rob Ford or any other celebrity is part and parcel of late night show..

They made fun of everyone, including Obama, so take a CHILL pill and enjoy the show.. what else can Rob Ford do or say that will cause more humiliation?

Kimmel's rating will shoot up.. thanks to Rob Ford..

A****ole Adam Vaughan can't get 2 words out of his mouth without slamming Ford. He's doing a great job of providing positive publicity for Ford. The more negative he is towards Ford the better he makes Ford look. Thanks Adam! Keep it up long enough and there won't be a right split between Ford and Tory.

The amount of free advertising Mayor Ford is receiving as a
celebrity is quite astounding. He has put Toronto on the map as a starting place to check out and talk about.

The positive effect of this is going to last a long time, maybe a
      decades worth of returns!

Mayor Ford is worth millions and millions to the city. Who could imagine anyone else being mayor next term?
      You gotta love him !

      Good going Mayor Ford.

@Frankie Actually, I texted Mr. Moore about that this morning. Was very tempted to text in before the round table that I would bet money that if there was no topic about Rob Ford, that Adam would somehow work it into the conversation.

Sure enough, he was sort of hinting it, when he kept on mentioning the subway line to Scarborough- and how the residents of Scarborough aren't to bright. And they have "imagined" slights from the city of Toronto.
But sure enough, when the session wrapped up, and there was no mentioned of Ford by name, Vaughn wanted to bring up Rob Ford and his trip to L.A.
When I texted John Moore about Adam Vaughn's Ford fetish, he did acknowledge that it was an obsession. And that 1010 (or Moore in the Morning show at least) was ignoring the Rob Ford sideshows (John Moore's words- not mine).

Whenever Adam is running late for the round table, or just can;t make it, its a sigh of relief for me. On the off-chance that Mr. Ford wins the next election, I wonder how big of a mess will he make, after his head explodes.

@john don't know John but to a lot of us Adam Vaughn is one of the councillors that just goes to work everyday and does his job. goes home to his family at the end of the day. doesn't stop off at crack dens or back alleys to have a drink and and smoke some rock.
we kind of like responsible adults. unlike you know who!
you don't like him because he gnaws at crackheads ankles. but we like that about him and want him to keep on doing that
    6. rankie posted on 03/03/2014 11:55 AM
@enough! I don't like Vaughan because he's a liar and an obstructionist to progress. He lied about Wal-Mart & Kensington Market as they weren't going in that location, he's against progress with Billy Bishop airport, he supported the St. Clair right-of-way which I drive on frequently (one of the biggest boondoggles), etc.
    7. enough! posted on 03/03/2014 12:34 PM
@rankie Vaughn's the liar now haha...
why did you even bother replying back rankie or Frankie or whatever your name is?

I used to live at St. Clair and Weston Rd long time ago. what a great improvement the right of way is for the residents of the area. i still go up there i know many people there. residents are happy rankie after construction.

i now live at harbourfront 5 minutes away from Porter. many issues to be resolved. Porter doesn't own the harbour the city does and decisions will be made with residents input and city input as it should

thanks for caring about our city rankie. many on your side don't give a sht. they pretend like they do but they don't give a rats behind
    8. john posted on 03/03/2014 12:39 PM
@enough! all politicians and council are dickheads theirs not really any deference . at lest i dont see it .
    9. Karl Burgin posted on 03/03/2014 01:49 PM
@enough! Sorry, but its no improvement.
And the right-of-way is a nightmare. I refuse to drive there, do any deliveries anywhere in the area, and won't do service calls anywhere near there.

It is an atrocious nightmare- especially during rush hour. I don't really think "improvements" is one of the words you want to through around, when people who do services either don't want to go there, or they jack up the bill/prices for whatever services are being offered, to compensate for the obscene waste of time/gas.

Rob Ford is a kind person. This event tonight on the Kimmel show will magnify the
bullying effect by talk show hosts such as Kimmel.

Kimmel is probably the kindest talk show host. I wouldn't be surprised if he
praises Mayor Ford. There could be a lot of viewers who turn against Kimmel
because of the uncovering of the propaganda fiction.

If there are any jokes about Mayor Ford tonight, then the jokes will
      be on Kimmel.

Go for a touchdown Mayor Ford !
