York Regional police officer suffers leg injury during traffic stop

Police say officer is expected to recover fully

A York Regional police officer has been taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after he was hit by another car during a traffic stop on Woodbridge Avenue and Market Lane in Vaughan.

It happened around 3:30 Wednesday afternoon.

The leg injury is said to be serious, but the officer is breathing and conscious and is expected to recover.

The accident reconstruction team is investigating.

The SIU have not been called in.
