TDSB budget approval may have been premature

Province still hasn't told boards how much money is available

All the back and forth on the TDSB's budget last week may have been for nothing.

The province says it's odd for a school board to declare it has a balanced budget when it doesn't know how much money you're getting from Queen's Park.

The TDSB worked off of last year's funding model, something that changes every year. And the province doesn't tell boards how much money their getting until later on in the year.

Education Minister Liz Sandals tells Newstalk 1010 whatever the new formula is won't change based on each board's budget plans.

That means if there's a discrepancy between funding and the approved budget, the TDSB would have to make some changes.

Which means planned programs for your kids may suffer.
