The province is beefing up GO transit in the GTA area next month.

There will be more train and bus routes starting April 5th.

For buses, the Highway 407 West route will add 36 weekday and 31 weekend bus trips.  There will also be 24 new weekend bus trips on the Stouffville route

As for trains, one of the morning and afternoon trains on the Barrie line will be extended from 10 cars to 12 cars, adding 320 more seats per trip .

Transportation Minister Glen Murray says bringing in new buses for replacements and expansion of GO in Southern Ontario should cost around $50 million.

Starting on June 28, there will also be two new weekday morning trains on the Barrie line from Maple to Union Station.

There will also be more weekend trips on the Lakeshore lines.
