A familiar face will be entering the race for mayor of Toronto.

In a release, Sarah Thomson says she will be running for the job and filing her papers Thursday morning at 8:30.

Thomson ran for mayor in the 2010 municipal election, but dropped out and threw her support behind then-candidate George Smitherman.

In 2011, Thomson had hoped to win a bid in Trinity-Spadina for the Liberals in the provincial election, but lost.

Thomson made headlines last March when she accused Mayor Rob Ford of groping her at a CJPAC Action Party. Mayor Ford, has denied the allegations repeatedly.

The other candidates running for mayor include John Tory, Olivia Chow, Karen Stintz, David Soknacki and Mayor Rob Ford who is seeking re-election.

The municipal election takes place on October 27.

Unlike the little train that "could", Thomson can't....................Time to face the truth.

Aligning yourself with Smitherman is not the way to get elected. Why do you keep trying to do the impossible?

I'm just wondering if she is going to be in the debates like 2010. Anyways another right wing candidate helps Chow.

I've always heard of her but never seen a pic of her till today. Why does she look like a hippie? (..and I'm not purposefully being mean)

@Karl Burgin She is not trying to look like a hippie,, she is trying to look YOUNG
      with the dreadlock..

Sarah Thomson is not stupid,,she just threw away $200 in her registration fee and she knew she will not win but she will throw her support to the one she thought will win and then get a plump position later,, she threw her support to the wrong guy in George Smitherman

So $200 fr a $150K position as policy advisor? not too bad..and I think she SHOULD throw he support for MR Rob Ford.. ha ha ha

@dama I kinda agree with DAMA.
When you set the bar against Kathleen Wynne, Sarah Thompson is Miss Ontario in the beauty department.

That's the most unflattering photo of a mayoral candidate that I have
ever seen in my life. Her hairdo (or " hair don't") says it all.

Her hair style is under her control. She has chosen to look ugly for whatever reason.
I don't know what else could make up for that.

Side-Show Sarah. I am sure this crazy lady will get Bart eventually.

No one here understands what is really going on. The fix is in!

All those secondary candidates are running to siphon off as many votes as possible from Rob Ford and John Tory, allowing Olivia Chow to win. This is a very old NDP tactic...split the conservative vote but have only one strong progressive candidate.

The same thing happened in the last election when Joe Pantelone remained in the race at Miller's request. This was meant to steal votes from Smitherman as payback from the days when Smitherman was Barbara Hall's E/A and screwed Miller out of his first run for mayor.

This election will be between Tory and Chow...and Tory will lose a lot of votes to those "laugh-at" candidates.

@Peter Definitely not the case with ST. She doesn't have a hope of winning and knows it but she's addicted to publicity. Most likely she plans to drop out at some point and then try to latch onto either Tory or Chow to keep her name front and centre, just as she did last time with Smitherman. If either Chow or Tory lets her, she/he deserves to be defeated.

It's all about ST and ST only. She's a publicity hound plain and simple.
