The province's Special Investigations Unit has invoked its' mandate after an incident at a plaza in Scarborough.

Police say the SIU began their investigation around 2:40 Wednesday morning.

A pedestrian was struck by an unmarked police minivan and suffered non-life threatening injuries. This happened near Kingston Road and Midland.

Police say one person is under arrest but it's not clear how they are connected to the incident.

Toronto police are also conducting their own investigation into the matter.

The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
