First day of spring is here
Will it finally warm up?
2 0

Even though it doesn't feel like it, the first day of spring is finally here.

The season officially starts at 12:57 pm ET today.

Many people have been counting down to that moment for a long time, after an unseasonably cold winter.

Environment Canada has been the bearer of bad news for months now.

"And I don't have any better news," says meteorologist Geoff Coulson.

He says the temperatures will remain below seasonal until at least mid-April.

"If there is any comfort to take in this, we do know that normal highs in the Toronto area in mid-April should be about 11 degrees," Coulson says. "So even if things are going to be a little bit colder than that, it would still mean hopefully daytime highs of about 7 or 8."

He says it's too early to predict what the summer will be like but, so far, some models show an average season, while others show the cooler-than-normal temperatures continuing.

    Hey Justine,

. . . isn't that a fine photo. The blossoms with the grass, and winding path.

    Thanks
