The Buffalo Bills have confirmed that legendary owner Ralph Wilson has passed away.

He was 95 years old.

Wilson was one of the final AFL owners, before his Bills joined the NFL, and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2009.

When the naming rights on the former Rich Stadium ran out in 1998, the outdoor complex was renamed in honour of the owner of the team.

Wilson was the key negotiator who worked out a deal to bring the Bills to Toronto starting in 2008.
