Don't switch sides of the street just yet
City of Toronto asking residents who use street parking to wait until April 15th to start parking on the other side of the street...

If you have street parking in front of your house, don't believe the sign that says you should switch sides on April 1st.

The City of Toronto is asking you to hold off until the 15th to make the move.

City officials say the reason behind it, is that there's just till too much ice and snow, between parked cars and until that melts, they say it's not safe or practical to switch sides until that has melted.

"It is expected that roads will be clear by April 15, allowing the alternate side of the road parking rule to go into effect on that date."

Further to that, Toronto Police will not be ticketing anyone for parking on the wrong side of the road until April 16th at 9am.

However, if cars are parked haphazardly creating dangerous situations and blocking the flow of traffic, tickets will be issued and in extreme cases, vehicles could be towed.
