A portion of Royal York Road in the city's west end will be closed for hours after a gas line was ruptured early Wednesday.

Police say a car crashed into a home on Royal York Road, north of Lake Shore Boulevard around 2:30 a.m. The driver fled from the scene.

The car also hit a gas line prompting the evacuation of a few homes in the area, but no one was hurt.

Enbridge gas is on the scene trying to cap the leak.
