Environment Canada says significant rainfall is on the way for southern Ontario.

The agency says places including Toronto, Peel Region, Durham Region, and York Region could get 15 mm-25 mm of rain. The drops are expected to start to falling in the Golden Horseshoe to Georgian Bay area early Friday morning.

Areas north of hwy 401 could see freezing rain to start. That could leave roads slick for the morning rush.

Environment Canada says it may issue rainfall or freezing warnings as the system moves in closer.
