Train collides with SUV in Texas

Why you should not drive around barriers

Your video of the day on Newstalk1010.com will take your breath away!

It demonstrates  why, when train barriers are in the down postion, you shouldnt' be driving around them.

This is police video from Houston, Texas. An SUV is struck by a passenger train, and dragged.

There are two adults and two children in the car.  They survive!  But you can't imagine how, when you watch this incredible footage.

It looks like the car went through the intersection, did a U-turn and went back through the barriers. Suicidal or just plain stupid?

Precisely why LRT's are not a smart solution.

People's lack of understanding safety is what causes many collisions, much gridlock, and many injuries, and likely deaths.

All through Toronto and GTA, I see people block fire halls, and park on top of rail tracks as though no train or emergency will ever occur. The train is faster, bigger, and the car can never win that fight, why ever put yourself there? Is that 5-6 ft of roadway with a track on it really going to get you there any sooner? Blocking fire halls prevents quick response times, and that may often mean lives. Blocking every available intersection only prevents traffic flow, while putting stupidity on display.

    Smarten up people.

@JohnH_6636 I've never seen a car blocking a fire hall.. but even if one did, it wouldn't matter much. Fire trucks are much bigger, and would just drive through the stupid driver's vehicle and knock it out of the way. When fire trucks are heading to an emergency situation, they don't mess around.

I have seen a picture, though, of some idiot that parked in front of a fire hydrant that firefighters needed to get to.. they got to it. They smashed both side windows of the car, connected the hose, and ran the hose right through the car from the fire hydrant, through both windows, and off to where they needed to do. Quite a bit of water damage to the interior of the car, too. Like I said, fire fighters don't mess around. If you're the driver, you better hope your insurance company insures you for stupidity.

LRT crashes do occur, but rarely is train at fault to anyone but public perception.

The preferred vehicle of scumbags...How long is it going to take this zero to run to
a lawyer? You know this a---hole is going to sue the railroad for their own stupidity.

@mike cooper No court in the country would side with this clown. There's video evidence of him being an idiot.
