8 year old boy found safe and sound, Amber Alert cancelled

Peel police say an eight-year-old Mississauga boy who had been missing has been found in good health.

An Amber Alert that had been issued this morning has been cancelled.

Matthew Zhang, was last seen by his father at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday,when he was dropped off at an address on Mississauga Valley Blvd, to visit his mother. 

Just before 5:00 p.m., his father contacted  Wei Chen (the boy's mother) who refused to return him. It is believed she had fled the area with her son.

This morning, police issued an Amber Alert and released the description of the mom's car, a Honda Accord.

Police say a citizen recognized the car and called 911.

The vehicle was pulled over in Vaughan and both the mom and boy were inside.

The boy will be reunited with his dad.

Police say they are interviewing the boy and Chen to determine whether charges will be laid.
