Provincial Police have a pre-teen boy in custody after he allegedly stole a car from Toronto, before finally being caught in the Port Hope area.

The OPP says they spotted the car that matched the description of the stolen vehicle and started chasing it on the 401 through Port Hope.

Officers were finally able to complete the stop on County Road 2 in Clarington.

A 12 year old boy from Toronto, who was behind the wheel, was arrested.

He's been charged with Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Theft Under $5000, Flight from Police, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Breach of Recognizance.

The boys name is not going to be released because of his age.
