NBA Fines Raptors GM for 'obscene language'

Ujiri fined $25,000 for 'wrong choice of words' Saturday

Toronto Raptors general manager Masai Ujiri has been fined $25,000 for using obscene language in a public setting.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver announced the fine Monday.

Ujiri took the stage at an outdoor gathering at Air Canada Centre to pump up fans prior to Toronto's playoff game against the Brooklyn Nets last Saturday, and ended his speech by pairing an F-bomb with Brooklyn.

The GM was quick to apologize, as team officials summoned media for a halftime gathering in the hall outside the playoff media centre at Air Canada Centre.

Ujiri said he used a ``wrong choice of words'' in trying to fire up the large crowd.

The Nets went on to win Game 1 of the best-of-seven series 94-87

He was wrong, - no question about that.

It's good to see a real penalty of $25,000, not a flea flicker $500 fine as
    in some other sports.
This penalty is effective and seems to indicate that the BB league is doing things properly.

    Nice to see that.
