Toronto woman dead after crash near Cambridge

Highway closed for hours as police investigated

A Toronto-woman is dead after a car crash on Highway 401 just east of Cambridge Sunday afternoon.

According to OPP she was a passenger in a Honda CRV that was travelling westbound on the highway, when it veered into the ditch. The SUV managed to get back on the highway but then slammed into the concrete median.

The highway was closed for several hours while OPP investigated.

The 54-year-old woman was one of four people in the car. She was sitting in back seat and died at the scene.

The three others occupants were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

At this point, it's not clear what caused the accident.
