Man stabbed in head aboard Mississauga bus

Weapon may have been a pen

A man is in hospital after being stabbed in the head by a fellow passenger aboard a Mississauga city bus.  The initial call for help said the victim had been attacked with a pen.

Peel Police say they were called to a MiWay bus at 3:10 pm Wednesday near Hurontario St and the Queensway.

Constable Thomas Ruttan says there was a fight between two males on the bus in the lead up to the stabbing. It isn't clear if they know each other or what sparked the confrontation.

The weapon used is being described as small and edged, but Ruttan couldn't confirm that it was a pen. The suspect is thought to have taken off with it.

Police are now looking for a west Indian male standing 5'8 with a slim build, with short, curly black hair and scruffy facial hair. He was wearing a black jacket and a tan-coloured backpack. Anyone with information is asked to call Peel Police at 905-453-2121, x1233 or to contact Crime Stoppers.

Though there was a lot of blood at the scene, the victim's injury is considered to be minor.
