Toronto Region Board of Trade wants Ford to resign
They suggest Ford should step down for the remainder of the term...

Rob Ford should go.

That's the opinion of the Toronto Region Board of Trade.

The group put out a press release on Thursday, in response to the newest developments in the Rob Ford saga.

A new video showing the mayor allegedly smoking crack has surfaced along with an audio recording where Ford is heard making sexist and racist comments.

Now the Board says it's time the Mayor resigns.

They released:

"Last November, Toronto Region Board of Trade said the Mayor of the City must put Toronto first. It is increasingly clear that under current circumstances it is not possible for the Mayor to do that.

Regrettably, our City remains preoccupied with the question of leadership. Under Mayor Ford, there are too many ongoing distractions. This fact is recognized not only locally, but nationally and internationally as well. Our City’s reputation is suffering.

The Mayor must be able to effectively address our City’s key priorities such as attracting investment, jobs and talent from around the world. He must be the City’s marketer-in-chief.

Under these conditions it is not possible for him to effectively lead and represent the City. It is the Board’s view that Mayor Ford should step down from office for the remainder of the current term. He is of course, within his rights to seek a new mandate this fall.

We understand this matter must be very troubling to the Mayor and his family, and we wish him well as he seeks professional help for his health.”

    Wow...
I can see the generation before who fought in WWI and WWII who fought and died for democracy, who are probably turning over in their graves- when they see such an affront to the mechanisms of democracy of which we are spoiled by.

The freakin' board of trade cannot even wait till October for voters to decide to either oust Ford or re-elect him. Ford is such a threat, that they would like him to resign- so as to remove himself as an option to vote for in October.
