The late-night talk show hosts all took jabs at Rob Ford last night over the latest controversies swirling around the Toronto mayor. But most of the hosts also seemed to genuinely wish Ford well as he enters rehab to deal with substance-abuse problems.
On ``The Daily Show with Jon Stewart,'' the host acted shocked when he played a clip of an announcement that Ford was entering rehab.
Stewart called it a ``wonderful surprise'' and number one on the list of things he thought would never happen.
On ``The Late Show,'' host David Letterman devoted his Top 10 list to Ford under the heading ```Top 10 reasons Rob Ford is taking a leave of absence.`''
The top reason? ``The great ones always know when to leave on top.'' Letterman added that Ford should have sought help six months ago.
Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel, who recently had Ford as a guest, said he talks about Ford so much, it feels like he works on the show, thus making this an H-R issue for the program.
On ``The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,'' the host said he is glad Ford is getting help and hopes some of the jokes about him cheer him up.
Conan O'Brien also mentioned Ford, saying the mayor has earned a leave of absence because ``the guy's been up since 2004.''
Reports yesterday said Ford has gone to Chicago and his brother, Councillor Doug Ford, said the mayor would be spending 30 days at an unspecified facility.
