Don't scratch Doug Ford off your list of possible candidates in the mayor's race.
The current Ward 2 councillor and campaign manager for his brother was asked if he was considering a run for the mayor's chair.
He replied with 'No comment'.
It was back in June of 2013, that Doug Ford told reporters at city hall, that he had no interest in running for municipal council.
"I'll be running away from here!" he said.
There was also speculation that he would instead run in the next provincial election, but he poured water on that fire, saying he was going to concentrate on his brother's re-election campaign.
Councillor Giorgio Mammoliti, who sits beside Ford in the council chambers says he was speaking with him and trying to push him in the direction of running for mayor.
Mammoliti later told reporters that Doug Ford suggested 'he was thinking about it'.
Also at city hall, Councillor Denzil Minnan-Wong confirmed he'd spoken with Mayor Ford, but wouldn't give many details about what the Mayor has been up to.
Minnan-Wong says Ford was in good spirits in their conversation which only lasted a couple of minutes.
"I asked him how he was and said that a lot of people are hoping he gets better and he asked what was going on at council and I said that some councillors were trying to undermine our contracting out initiatives and I think he wanted to come back to defend that decision,” said Minnan-Wong.
When pressed on where the Mayor is attending rehab, Minnan-Wong wouldn't say, only saying the Mayor was entitled to his privacy.
