Doug Ford for Mayor?

Also, Councillor Denzil Minnan-Wong speaks with Mayor Ford, gives reporters an update...

Don't scratch Doug Ford off your list of possible candidates in the mayor's race.

The current Ward 2 councillor and campaign manager for his brother was asked if he was considering a run for the mayor's chair.

He replied with 'No comment'.

It was back in June of 2013, that Doug Ford told reporters at city hall, that he had no interest in running for municipal council.

"I'll be running away from here!" he said.

There was also speculation that he would instead run in the next provincial election, but he poured water on that fire, saying he was going to concentrate on his brother's re-election campaign.

Councillor Giorgio Mammoliti, who sits beside Ford in the council chambers says he was speaking with him and trying to push him in the direction of running for mayor.

Mammoliti later told reporters that Doug Ford suggested 'he was thinking about it'.

Also at city hall, Councillor Denzil Minnan-Wong confirmed he'd spoken with Mayor Ford, but wouldn't give many details about what the Mayor has been up to.

Minnan-Wong says Ford was in good spirits in their conversation which only lasted a couple of minutes.

"I asked him how he was and said that a lot of people are hoping he gets better and he asked what was going on at council and I said that some councillors were trying to undermine our contracting out initiatives and I think he wanted to come back to defend that decision,” said Minnan-Wong.

When pressed on where the Mayor is attending rehab, Minnan-Wong wouldn't say, only saying the Mayor was entitled to his privacy.

Ugh. The only thing worse than a compulsive liar named Ford in the mayor's chair would be a malicious one.

@spicygarage Doug Ford is Mr. Pretend and play dumb. Or you can call him Mr. cover up too.

    Doug Ford for mayor?
One lying Ford has been too much already.
Another lying Ford - who lies for his brother - is unthinkable.

The only plus would be that Doug will prove that he's even dumber than Rob.

Go for it Doug. You will have a lot of support.
John Tory is MIA and no one seems to care.

@DMCP Everyone is missing in action because Rob Ford made sure his name was placed above the good of Toronto.

All the controversies, the bad press, the attention grabbing by any means and then to top it off the always horrible 'Ford Nation' info commercial where you actually descend a little lower on the intelligence meter after every episode.

If he presents a strong fiscal platform and a plan to save the city money, I'll vote for him. Literally anything is better than a tax maniac like Chow. ABC: #AnythingButChow

@Dean i've seen that movie before. it had a lot of hype, fanfare and marketing propaganda, but when it was showtime the movie just fizzled out. the lead actors were way over their head

@Dean Once again you play the game. You know there is more than two choices but John Tory is the real threat to the Ford sisters.
Going against Chow is a right left issue (easy to deal with for Ford) while going against Tory is a right against wrong character issue which means Ford doesn't have a chance.

Why would anyone want the residue from Rob Ford?
All this amounts to is the same Ford Nation crap with the same two questionable characters.Of course the bothers can still navigate their deeds in the sisters basement.

We need a fresh start and that can only be achieved with new blood (that doesn't have other substances in it).

Maybe Rob and Doug can both run then they will grow up and become adults having to stand on their own two feet.

In other word leave the family picnic at home boys and come joint the real world.

If in fact tweedle-dee runs instead of tweedle-dumb, sounds a little like a set up to me. Could that have been the plan all along?
This is really beginning to smell!
"Amazing" how lax the qualifications of running for mayor are, not to mention what I would call a conflict of interest having two people from the same family serving on council.
Could it be that the more tweedle-dumb messes up, the better tweedle-dee looks?

We need to sick the Fords on the Provincial Liberals. I'm hoping for a John Tory win but not sure why he is so invisible right now.

@ToddK_2 It's very early in the campaign. We got months. Only an amateur blows his wad early.

What Doug Ford pulled yesterday was the ultimate insult to his brother.

Go back and listen to some of the old transcripts from their radio show. While Rob shows his brother respect bordering on reverence, Doug shows Rob contempt.

You wonder why Rob is so messed up. You need to look no further.

@tanjo It's now obvious that Doug has been running Rob's life since they were little kids. He's often said that he had to assume his dad's responsibilities after his father died, but now we know that he sees himself as the patriarch of the Ford dynasty. His dad used to beat his kids in a drunken rage, then Doug assumed that role...effectively, he broke his siblings. Rob is a wreck, his sister is a drug addict, and Randy still lives at home with mom.

Doug has always called the shots, at home he was the dad, at work the CEO that dispensed money to the family, and in politics he was the mayor who told Rob what to do and say.

You can't make this stuff up...Netflix should do a series, a hybrid of Dallas, Broken Bad, and Dexter. Maybe I Dream of Genie for Rob...good stuff that came out of a bottle.

How about concerned Torontonians contacting notoriously liberal Edmontonians to get them to dispatch to Toronto Jodie and her army of unemployed server zombies.

The evil kickboxing black belt, Doug (along with his oversized hand puppet, Rob) is currently terrorizing a hopelessly politically-correct Toronto city council.

Sometimes an extreme situation requires a real kick-ass solution.
