A Provincial Police officer from Thunder Bay has died after collapsing during a training exercise in Gravenhurst.

Police have indicated the man suddenly collapsed, without warning, and was rushed to hospital, where he later died.

His name hasn't been released, but he's been identified as an officer working with the canine unit.

OPP officers from the Bracebridge detachment responded to the call around 10:45 a.m., in the area of Loon Lake Rd.

The Ministry of Labour has now taken over the investigation.
