The CBC reports a doctor has confirmed to them that Rob Ford is checked into a live-in rehab centre somewhere in North America.
Doug Ford approached the CBC Friday after promising evidence that the mayor is being treated for alcohol abuse. The CBC says with Rob Ford's consent, they spoke with a supervising doctor at the facility where he's getting help.
There were questions about whether or not the mayor was in fact in treatment with supposed Rob Ford sightings around the GTA in recent days. The mayor told Newstalk 1010 host and Toronto Sun columnist Joe Warmington rehab has been "amazing."
On May 1, Rob Ford took a private plane from Buttonville Airport to Chicago and after a discussion with customs withdrew his application to enter the US.
The CBC reports Ford flew back to Toronto the same day, was picked up by his city councillor brother and driven directly to the unnamed facility where he is now an in-patient.
After a day in rehab, Ford was transferred to a hospital on May 3 for what a doctor tells the CBC was "concurrent care".
On May 7, Ford returned to the treatment facility and has been there ever since.
The doctor tells the CBC Ford was supervised during his trips to and from the hospital and that they "have every assurance and confidence he was nowhere else."
